Rachel's Pix

My friend Rachel, mom of Ben, the handsome guy next to Steve, sent these from the picture fest at Jayni's house.

The Queen

However, ya really can't beat sacrificing your face for the team as a prom court campaign strategy. Amy was crowned queen, and some guy named Josh who I don't really know was named king.

The Court

The seniors on the prom court. Steve is the tall guy on the end. Both Travis and Tricia are also seniors on the court. They are 2 of a set of triplets, and Steve was trying really hard to forward the idea that they should both be voted prom king and queen, because he is sure that everyone would be able to win the "my school was so small contest" going forward if they could say "my school was so small that the prom king and queen were brother and sister!"

Walshes

Now, some of us have had a busier week than others of us. These lovely people are the Walshes. Amy, who is a fine jazz trumpeter, suffered a serious injury last Saturday, when Tricia, another member of prom court, backed into her as they were both trying to catch the same pop-fly. Amy's nose and cheek were broken, and she was hospitalized. Steve, the ENT guy, would have preferred to operate Thursday, but, um, PROM!

Steve, whose son is dating a Meridian girl, understandingly did the surgery Monday. Amy looked fab, thanks to a trip to the mall for the heavy-duty bruise concealing make up.

As if this weren't enough, just as everyone was leaving for prom, their dog started to have her puppies. So Dave stayed with the dog, while Sue came to take pictures. Stephanie, Amy's older sister came too, with her beau of the last 4 years (who she used to bring to my Sunday School class!) who presented her this very afternoon with an engagement ring. So here they are, living their very full life.

Steve and Morgan

We did finally let them go to dinner. MaryAnn wisely suggested the adults repair for a beer. But alas, I could not join them, because I needed to go chase down Steve and Morgan to get a picture of them, since the photo fest at Jayni's house was contemporaneous with the Nelson park one.

I caught up with them at prom:

More Park Pix

The cool thing is, that every year there's some mom who is more crazy about pictures than I am, who sort of bosses the kids into posing. MaryAnn, who is Kaleigh-of-the-pink-hair's mom, took charge this year. I thought we'd tortured the kids enough, but she wanted a bridge shot, and y'know, she was right!

Park Pix

Then Kate, Jesse, and all of Steve's buddies (it so sucks being on Prom Court, apparently) head to Nelson Park, to the Rock Garden, which is, who knew, Prom Central.

Eisenhower High School is having its prom on the same night as Meridian's. So the cool places for photos have kids everywhere all dressed up, and their bejeaned parents brandishing cameras. It's quite a happening.

Kate and Jesse

Kate's date, Jesse arrives. The two moms torture them by taking photos.

Hair

Brother safely dispatched (he was a member of prom court, so he and his date, and another prom court couple had to get started early so as to be on time for coronation) we can concentrate on important things like hair.

Steve and Kate

Ok, so it's prom night 2007. We have to start with the obligatory "damn, I'm so glad I don't have to go with him/her !" brother-sister shot.
